Celina is its own town in northern Collin County, not a Plano subdivision, and the drive from our base at 820 Jupiter Rd runs north past Frisco before Preston Road opens into 75009. Calls cluster in two patterns: older trees around the historic square on Louisiana Drive, and young landscape trees inside Light Farms and Mustang Lakes. Removal on those newer streets means working between fresh fences, builder sod, and irrigation lines. On the older parcels it often means a larger post oak or pecan that outgrew a lot the city grew up around.
Heat lasts through the summer and winters stay mild, but a severe storm can still shear limbs onto roofs between downtown and the newer sections west of Preston Road. Blackland clay dries hard, then swells after rain, so roots lift walks and shallow trees lean once the wind hits open prairie lots. We book tree removal and trimming Monday through Friday from 8am to 6pm and Saturday from 9am to 2pm. Before we leave Plano we ask about gate width, overhead lines near the square, and whether the chipper has to stay on Frontier Parkway instead of in the driveway.
Trimming is usually the better first pass on a healthy cedar elm or live oak that is only crowding a roof in Light Farms. Full tree removal makes more sense when a trunk is split, the lean is toward a neighbor, or a storm hang-up is sitting over a play set. We do not treat every Celina lot like a West Plano cul-de-sac. - •Newer Celina sections such as Light Farms and Mustang Lakes are tight: HOA fences, fresh irrigation, and builder trees planted close to pads. A climber often fits where a bucket truck will not clear the gate.
- •Around the historic square, lots are older and drives are narrow, with lines close to mature pecans and oaks. We plan the drop so limbs do not land in Louisiana Drive traffic or on a neighbor's fence.
- •Collin County blackland clay shrinks in long dry stretches and heaves after heavy rain. That movement loosens shallow roots on open lots west of Preston Road, which is why a lean after a storm is common here.
- •Prairie exposure north of Frisco means wind has a long fetch. A hang-up that would sit quietly in a shaded Plano yard can keep moving on a Celina fenceline until it is cut down.
